Exploring the Universe
For this multi-media project we were inspired by space exploration. After investigating the planets in our solar system, we worked on composing our own galaxies of imaginary planets. We also studied NASA designs to get ideas for our own collage rockets.

Clay Penguins in Icy Habitats
Clay is always one of our favorite materials to work with. Once we constructed and painted our penguins we created icy habitats using interesting watercolor techniques. Animals are also a favorite subject in Art class!

Inspired by Nature
Nature is a big source of inspiration in Art class. For this project we followed in the steps of Maria Merian, one of the world's first entomologists and an accomplished artist. In particular we investigated the amazing symmetrical designs of butterflies. We used a printing technique to create symmetrical images and added color with chalk.
